Is it just you?
- Check githubstatus.com and look at the Copilot component specifically; Copilot can fail while the rest of GitHub works.
- Update the Copilot extension and your editor; older clients cannot talk to the Copilot servers.
- Try Copilot Chat on github.com/copilot: if it works there, the problem is your IDE setup or sign-in.
- Business and Enterprise users: an admin policy or content exclusion can disable Copilot for some files or repos.
- Switch models in the model picker; rate limits often hit a single model.
