Is it just you?
- Compare the Gemini app with gemini.google.com in a private browser window; if one works, the problem is the app or browser.
- Work or school accounts need Gemini turned on by an administrator; try a personal Google account to rule that out.
- Turn off your VPN: Gemini is not offered in every country and VPN exits can trigger errors.
- For the API, check the project's quota and billing in Google AI Studio; 429 and 403 errors are project-specific.
- Try a different Gemini model; a 503 on one model while others work is capacity, not a full outage.

You hit a rate limit or quota for your Google Cloud project. Wait and retry with backoff, or request a quota increase; creating a new key in the same project does not reset it.
